Vivaldi — Piazzolla
Presentation
Seasons: From One Shore to the Other
Venice and Buenos Aires. The 18th and 20th centuries. Nature and the city. With Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons and Piazzolla’s Las Cuatro Estaciones Porteñas, two worlds meet and answer one another.
Marianne Piketty and Le Concert Idéal intertwine their seasons to create a journey from one shore to the other. Spring, summer, autumn and winter cross paths, mirror one another and transform: Vivaldi’s Baroque energy meets the sensuality and pulsating rhythms of Piazzolla’s tango.
But here, the music is also something to be seen. Freed from the traditional concert setup, the musicians take possession of the space and engage their bodies in the performance. Glances, gestures, movements and bows create a choreography that reveals the dialogue between the works in a new light.
A musical outpouring, with Vivaldi’s and Piazzolla’s dizzying spirits crackling like a fire in the hearth… superbly performed… We discovered, with amazement, the potential of these musicians
